IBS is justly renowned for our expertise in building, controlling, testing and maintaining what we call “critical environments.”
These include laser laboratories, BSL-3 isolation laboratories, hospital operating and isolation rooms, clean rooms, and anywhere else where extraordinarily precise environmental control is mission-critical.

We apply a laser focus to control
In laser research labs, for example, changes in temperature of ±0.5 degrees F can compromise data, resulting in research down time. Larger temperature or humidity fluctuations can actually damage the laser equipment.
IBS has designed and built several laser labs at the University of Chicago that hold temperature variations to as little as 0.15ºF standard deviation, and a relative humidity standard deviation of 0.5 at multiple locations throughout the lab. We help hospitals meet IDPH and JCAHO standards
In hospital operating suites, and isolation and patient rooms, the key environmental needs are for pressurization, airflow temperature and humidity according to IDPH (Illinois Department of Public Health) and JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) standards. We have worked with a number of hospital and health care providers, including: Access Community Health Network, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Advocate Health Care (South Suburban Hospital, Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Trinity Hospital), Presence Health Hospitals (Presence Mercy Medical Center, Presence St. Mary’s Hospital, Presence Saint Mary’s and Elizabeth Medical Center, St. Mary Campus, Presence Center for Health-Park Ridge, Presence Health Center-Resurrection Life Center), MetroSouth Medical Center, Community Healthcare System (Valparaiso Health Center).
